This was the scene this morning after an incident last night in the Shiregreen area of Sheffield.

Around 7.30pm a skip wagon was deliberately driven into the house on Shirehall Road, leaving it open and exposed before the vehicle was set alight.

One neighbour who did not wish to be named, said: “I heard the sirens and I wondered what was happening so I came out and saw the fire, I was worried because I think some kids live there.”

Another man said: “I saw it happen; the speed that truck went in was no accident.”

Three fire engines attended to the scene to stop the fire from spreading inside to the house.

Two people were safely rescued from the scene.

It is alleged that several men exited the vehicle and escaped in another car, which was found crashed some time later on nearby Beck Road .
